The Wonderful Life Adventures of Copernicus - Childhood Starry Dreams

Born on February 19, 1473, in the Polish city of Torun, Copernicus was like a star destined to shine in the scientific firmament. As a child, Copernicus was simply a starry-eyed fan boy who often stared at the sky for a whole night.

His brother couldn't help asking him, 'You stay by the window all night and stare at the sky, does this show your filial honor to God?' Copernicus, however, replied in all seriousness, 'No, I want to spend my life studying the weather and the time of day, so that people will not be afraid of looking at the sky. I will let the stars make friends with men, and let them correct the course of sea-ships and guide the sailors on their voyages.'

The Fantastic Journey of Studying Abroad 

In 1496, at the age of 23, Copernicus traveled to Italy like a brave explorer. At the University of Bologna, he met the astronomer Domenico Maria.

On March 9, 1497, they stood together in the tower of St. Joseph's Church, observing the marvelous sight of the bright star of the constellation Taurus, Bijou V, being hidden by the Moth Moon.

While there was still a gap between Bijou V and the moon, it suddenly disappeared. Through precise measurements and calculations, they discovered that the moon's shadow was responsible, which opened a big hole in Ptolemy's geocentric theory, like finding a break in a fortified wall.

In the fall of 1525, a special helper came into Copernicus' life - Anna, the housekeeper. Anna came from a famous family, but she was so devoted to Copernicus that she lived with him, who was deprived of the right to marry by the Church, in spite of the world.

In 1543, Copernicus had been paralyzed for more than a year. When he finally got the Theory of the Operation of the Heavenly Bodies, which was the result of his life's work, he was like a child getting his most beloved gift; he gently stroked the cover of the book, and then closed his eyes with a satisfied smile, as if saying, 'My mission is accomplished.'

Copernicus' awesome scientific achievement -The birth of the heliocentric theory.

At the time of Nicolaus Copernicus, everyone believed in the theory of geocentrism, thinking that the Earth was the C position of the universe and all the celestial bodies had to revolve around the Earth, which was like a cosmic trend at that time.

However, Copernicus did not think so. After nearly 40 years of observation and research, he boldly put forward the heliocentric theory, claiming that the sun was the center of the universe, and that the earth and the other planets were dancing around the sun. This was a big deal. It was like casting a huge stone on a calm lake, which set off huge waves.

Copernicus not only put forward the heliocentric theory, but also acted like an awesome cosmic mapper, constructed the framework of the composition of the solar system, and solved the problem of the ordering of the sun and the planets. He let people know that the original solar system is such a wonderful layout that the Earth is no longer a lonely center, but runs happily in the universe with the other planets under the leadership of the sun.
