BKT's 10-Meter Angel Sculpture in Beijing: A DXDF Art Project

A silver-haired angel sits in the atrium of Longfor Beijing Changying Tianjie, holding a mask in its hand. We produced this 10-meter angel sculpture for BKT, with the installation jointly presented by BKT and Grand Orient Wax Art. The project brings our wax figure craftsmanship into a large-scale commercial art installation, showing how realistic figures can be used beyond traditional museum displays.

An angel shaped around BKT's idea of support

BKT's ergonomic seating products focus on physical support. The angel extends that idea into a sense of protection and rest through its seated pose, wings and calm expression, together with the surrounding display.

Silver hair, draped clothing and large wings give the character a distinctive appearance. Within the mall setting, these features connect the figure with the brand concept and give visitors a recognisable subject to view and photograph.

Producing a 10-meter hyper-realistic figure

Our task was to turn the angel character into a giant sculpture for the mall atrium. Production involved 3D printing, silicone moulding, layered colouring, hair implantation and modular assembly. Alongside the overall form, our team worked on the skin, hair and eyebrows that give the figure its realistic appearance.

Proportion and expression at a giant scale

At 10 meters, the relationship between the head and body, the position of the limbs and the fall of the clothing become especially prominent. We reviewed these elements as part of the complete figure, keeping the seated pose natural and the facial expression consistent with the angel's calm character.

The atrium offers views from different distances and floors. From farther away, visitors first see the figure's silhouette and wings. From nearby levels, the face and hands are more visible. The sculpture needs to work at both distances.

Skin texture and hair detail

We used layered colouring to build variation in the skin tones and hair implantation to complete the hair detail. Textures and colours across the face and hands were coordinated to give the figure a consistent finish.

The folds of the draped clothing follow the body's form and seated posture. Together, these details create a hyper-realistic appearance that holds up to closer viewing.

A brand installation in the mall atrium

The completed angel provides a clear focal point in the atrium. Visitors can take in the full scale of the figure from a distance, then examine the mask, expression and clothing from closer viewpoints.

For BKT, the angel gives support and protection a physical form. For us at DXDF Art, the project demonstrates how hyper-realistic figures can become part of a brand display, bringing a different type of character and craftsmanship to shopping mall installations.
