On April 18th, the Changsha WeiMuKaila Wax Museum welcomed its first group of students for a field study trip in 2024. The students not only had the opportunity to closely interact with the wax figures of world-famous celebrities, but also gained knowledge in history, culture, and art through a series of interactive activities and educational explanations.
The field study activity was guided by the museum's educators, who provided scientific explanations about the history and development of the wax museum, introduced famous figures, and emphasized safety instructions. While closely aligning with the theme of enhancing knowledge through extracurricular study, the activity also ensured the students' safety within the museum.
The Changsha WeiMuKaila Wax Museum, covering an area of over 5,000 square meters, is divided into thirteen themed areas, including the Changsha Local Culture Zone, Aerospace Zone, Xiang Culture Zone, Classic Journey to the West Zone, Red Patriotism Corridor, and the National Role Models Zone. It features over 120 wax figures of world-famous celebrities.
Located in Changsha, the Weimu Wax Museum showcases the essence of Xiang culture through the perfect blend of art and modern technology: "Simplicity and Righteousness," "Courage and Martial Spirit," "Practical Application of Knowledge," and "Continuous Self-Improvement."
The students walked into the familiar old streets of Changsha, met amiable local elders, and saw tables full of classic snacks such as stinky tofu, sweet oil cake, snails, and spicy crayfish. Many students said that these classic Changsha delicacies made their mouths water.
It is their strong interest that fuels their passion. During the visit, the children were eager to check in at each themed wax figure display area. They marveled at the lifelike details of the wax figures, as if the historical figures were right in front of them. This experience sparked a keen interest in the stories and history behind the wax figures.
Learning through play is the way to go, and the Changsha WeiMuKaila Wax Museum is a highly recommended destination for student field study trips. The wax museum integrates resources to build an open curriculum system that involves students, teachers, and families. It continuously and extensively carries out field study and practical education activities for primary and secondary school students.
Extracurricular study programmes are an important supplement to school education, providing students with a more open and diversified learning environment. Study programmes can enable students to come into contact with knowledge and information outside the classroom, expanding their knowledge and increasing their knowledge and understanding of the world.
