The secret to longevity is eating instant noodles every day

This is from the 97-year-old

"The Godfather of Instant Noodles" Momofuku Ando

How awesome is this great god?

Roller coaster life: 3 bankruptcies, 2 prison terms

Momofuku Ando was born on March 5, 1910 in Chiayi, Taiwan, China. His original name was Wu Baifu. He lost his parents at a young age and was raised by his grandfather who ran a silk shop.

In 1932, 22-year-old Momofuku Ando used the funds left by his father to set up a company specializing in selling knitwear in Yongle Town, Taipei, and purchased products from Japan for local sales. In the following year, he expanded to Osaka, Japan, established the Nitto Chamber of Commerce, and began his business journey in Japan.

First bankruptcy and imprisonment

However, the good times did not last long. During World War II, the factory and store operated by Ando Momofuku in Osaka, Japan were bombed by air raids, and his hard-earned business was destroyed. Not only that, but because he was Chinese, due to the tense relationship between the two, he was framed by someone with ulterior motives and sent to prison.

Second bankruptcy and imprisonment

After he was released from prison, he regrouped, but bad luck struck him again. He set up a student aid fund with good intentions, but was sent to prison again on charges of tax evasion and all his property was confiscated.

The third bankruptcy

After being released from prison again, after careful consideration, Ando Momofuku changed his nationality to Japanese, but he still could not escape the bad luck. Because of the invitation of others, Ando Momofuku joined a credit union and served as the main leader, but the credit union later went bankrupt, and he also went bankrupt.

Faced with war, imprisonment, and bankruptcy, others might have been devastated, but this was definitely not in line with Ando Momofuku's personality. However, as the saying goes, "Misfortune may be a blessing in disguise." While in prison, he saw people queuing in the cold wind to eat a bowl of ramen, and he also experienced the feeling of hunger.

A super cool idea suddenly popped into his head: It would be great if there were noodles that could be eaten just by soaking them in hot water!

The World's First Instant Noodle Bowl: Chicken Ramen

In 1958, at the age of 48, he started "secret scientific research" in his backyard. Ando found an old noodle machine, bought a wok with a diameter of 1 meter, and flour, cooking oil and other raw materials, and began the experiment in a small wooden house of less than 10 square meters.

Ando carried out in-depth research for a year in an almost fanatical state.During the entire year, he only had an average of 4 hours of rest per day.

This research work faces two difficult problems. One of them is to develop a "drying method" that can preserve noodles properly for a long time., and the second is to design a convenient solution that allows the noodles to be eaten directly after pouring hot water.

It is said thatWhen Ando saw his wife making tempura, the water was gradually eliminated during the frying process, and the texture became crispy. The innovative idea of using "hot oil" to dry noodles instantly flashed through his mind.

Hard work pays off, deep frying the noodles to remove the waterThe "instant hot oil drying method" finally came into being.

In August 1958, Ando founded the predecessor of Nissin Foods, China Communications Corporation."Chicken Ramen" is launched. The noodles are soaked in concentrated soup made from chicken bones and spices and can be eaten simply by pouring hot water. "Chicken Ramen" was called "Magic Ramen" at the time and quickly became a hot and popular product.

13 years later, Ando developed cup noodles.Cup noodles were very popular as soon as they were launched, and quickly attracted manufacturers from all over the world to join in. In this way, a new food category called "instant noodles" was successfully established worldwide.

Ando adheres to the concept that "only through competition and mutual learning within the industry can the growth of enterprises be promoted".Rather than choosing to monopolize the patent, it generously granted broad licenses. This move directly gave birth to a very large instant noodle market, and also enabled Nissin Foods itself to achieve rapid development and growth.

He's 91 years old, and he's going to keep on doing it.

Ando's passion for exploration never dried up even in his old age.In 2001, Ando, then 91 years old, resolutely announced that he would lead the team to lead the research and development of "space ramen".

After years of unremitting efforts, in July 2005, Nissin Foods successfully launched its innovative product "Space Ram" on the space shuttle that Soichi Noguchi was riding on. This product is the result of repeated efforts by the scientific research team. By cleverly adding thickening ingredients to the soup, it cleverly overcomes the problem of the soup easily splashing in a weightless environment.

He always spares no effort to "endorse" instant noodles, saying things like "Who says instant noodles are unhealthy? I am living a good life, which is enough to prove that instant noodles are a good thing."He also claimed that the secret to his health and longevity was to eat a bowl of instant noodles every day and play golf twice a week. This reason is also laughable.

The story of a world-changing invention that deserves to be known by a wider audience

Instant noodles, a delicacy praised as one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century,Behind its creation lies the legendary life experience of its creator, Momofuku Ando. He experienced war, bankruptcy and imprisonment in the first half of his life, but the hardships did not defeat him. He resolutely devoted his energy to the research and development of instant noodles, and not only successfully made a comeback, but also influenced the global food culture with this invention.

The origin of instant noodles is full of fun and stories.Ms. Zhou Xuerong, the founder of the  WeiMuKaiLa Wax Museum, hopes to use the form of silicone sculptures.Pass on Ando Momofuku's indomitable and dedicated scientific spirit, as well as his fearlessness and courage in facing life's difficulties.

Momofuku Ando left this world forever on January 5, 2007. Facing such a deceased person, the sculpture craftsmen shouldered a special mission. They tried their best to collect information on his appearance, shape and other aspects, striving to not only carve a realistic-looking statue, but alsoIt is also necessary to deeply explore the character's personal experience and create works that can accurately convey the character's soul and be vivid and expressive.

The series of scientist statues carries the dual significance of scientific communication and spiritual education. The Curtain Rises uses a combination of statues and scenes to cleverly connect the threads of the characters’ major inventions, making the scenes a silent but infectious storyteller. The stories behind each statue can be vividly presented to the audience, allowing people to deeply appreciate the great spirit and outstanding contributions of scientists.
